President Biden is en route to his first trip to the Middle East as Commander-in-Chief. His first stop will be in Israel for discussions that start Wednesday. Biden’s trip will also include visits to the West Bank and Saudi Arabia.

A task force to protect women’s reproductive rights is being created by the U.S. Justice Department.  The D-O-J said Tuesday task force will monitor and evaluate state laws and enforcement actions that threaten to “infringe on federal legal protections” regarding reproductive healthcare.  It will also monitor state laws that “impair women’s ability” to seek care in states where abortion is legal.

The Justice Department has been notified about an attempt by former President Trump to call a witness interviewed by the January 6th House committee.  That’s according to Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney who warned against witness tampering.  She didn’t name the witness, but said it was someone not yet seen in the hearings. 

Economists are expecting bad news with June inflation figures are released this morning.  They’re forecasting the inflation rate rising to eight-point-eight percent, two-tenths higher than May’s eight-point-six percent rate.  The numbers will be out at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time.

Police are investigating a grisly discovery inside a barbecue pit at a home in southeast Houston.  A person working in the back yard of the home found a burnt human skeleton and called police.  Investigators are talking with the family that lives at the home in an effort to find out how the remains got inside the large brick pit.

Former American Basketball Association players will receive money from the NBA.  The league will pay more than 24-million dollars as part of an agreement the board of governors approved Tuesday.  It will benefit about 115 former players who played three or more years in the ABA or at least three combined years in the ABA and NBA and never got a vested NBA pension. 

Dan Carrington has been named an associate head coach for Penn State swimming and diving, head coach Tim Murphy announced Tuesday. Carrington comes to Penn State after serving as an assistant coach for the last six seasons at Florida State.

MLB – The Pirates over the Marlins, 2-1. The Phillies lost to the Blue Jays, 4-3.
