A Penn State Student Was Accused of Assaulting, Strangling a Woman in a Dorm Room.

A Yosemite National Park wildfire is being called a human-start fire.  Officials shared that at a community meeting last night.  The fire now covers more than 27-hundred acres and is threatening two-thousand-year-old trees.

The dollar and euro are now equal.  The euro fell to a 20-year low Monday, bringing parity between the two currencies for the first time in nearly two decades.  The drop was driven by fears that an energy crisis in the European Union could drag the continent into a recession. 

A comment made by First Lady Jill Biden about Latinos is receiving backlash.  While speaking in San Antonio, Texas, Biden attempted to praise the Latino community by saying it’s “as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio.”  The National Association of Hispanic Journalists said in a statement that Biden and her speech writers ought to “better understand the complexities of our people” who should not be reduced to stereotypes. 

Japan has bid farewell to former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe [[ ah-bay ]].  Crowds packed sidewalks lined with a heavy police presence as the hearse carrying Abe’s body left a temple in central Tokyo.  The 67-year-old Abe was fatally shot while speaking at a campaign event near Osaka last Friday.

Penn State added another member to its 2023 recruiting class on Monday afternoon as Scranton Prep running back London Montgomery verbally committed to the Nittany Lions. Montgomery choose Penn State over Boston College and Virginia Tech in his final three schools.
