Bingeing On Weekends Poses Health Risk, Even If You Don’t Drink During The Week

A recent study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine shows the impact of binge drinking on weekends is significant, even if the average number of weekly drinks is moderate.

“An individual whose total consumption is seven drinks on Saturday night presents a greater risk profile than someone whose total consumption is a daily drink with dinner,” Charles Holahan, professor at the University of Texas at Austin, said. People who binge drink were five times more likely to experience alcohol problems such as injury, emotional or psychological problems, or having to use more alcohol for the same effect. (CNN)
