Penn State campus landmarks, including the Lion Shrine, Old Main and the Hintz Family Alumni Center, were the targets of a vandalism attack that was discovered on Sunday morning. University police established a perimeter around the Lion Shrine, which was blemished by a red paint and had an ear broken.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is starting the process today to protect abortion rights.  He’s moving forward on a bill that would make Roe v. Wade a federal law, with a vote set for Wednesday.  The Supreme Court is expected to overturn the historic decision soon.

A new bill in Louisiana aims to charge women with murder if they get an abortion.  It’s expected to be approved by the full House this week.  The lawmaker behind the push says he doesn’t want to wait to see if the Supreme Court goes through with overturning Roe v. Wade.

An Alabama woman is in the hospital after an anniversary celebration went horribly wrong.  Her husband died while they were on vacation in the Bahamas.  Two other American tourists at the same resort also died hours after getting sick.  Police say there are no signs of foul play.

Today begins the second full week of searching for an Alabama inmate and the officer who helped him escape.  Vicky White disappeared with the murder suspect the day she retired.  The sheriff says they were in a two year relationship.  Their getaway car was found Friday.

The White House is warning everyone to prepare now for a COVID surge this winter.  Dr. Ashish Jha [[ jzah ]] predicts a “sizable” wave of infections, hospitalizations and deaths.  He also called on Congress to approve emergency aid to help get ahead of it.


Sports

 The Penn State baseball team swept its doubleheader against Michigan State on Sunday. The Nittany Lions’ offense exploded for a 15-3 win in game one and broke the game open with three runs in the seventh and eighth for a 10-4 victory in game two. 

Penn State softball (31-21, 13-10) finished the regular season with a series win over Illinois thanks to a 2-0 victory in the finale. The team claimed the No. 7 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Softball Tournament in East Lansing, Michigan. The Nittany Lions will face No. 10 seed Indiana in the opening round of the tournament Wednesday at 11 a.m. The game will air live on the Big Ten Network.

MLB – The Phillies and Mets split a doubleheader. The Reds defeated the Pirates, 7-3.

NHL Playoffs – The Rangers and Penguins meet again tonight in Game 4 of the playoffs with the Penguins leading 2 games to 1. Faceoff is 7pm.

NBA Playoffs – The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Miami Heat to tie the series at 2 games a piece.  

An 80 to 1 longshot named RICH STRIKE won the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.  It was the second-biggest upset in Derby history. Rich Strike wasn’t even in the Derby until Friday, when another horse named Ethereal Road dropped out. The payout on Rich Strike was $163.60 to win.
