More women and children are hoping to escape the war in Ukraine today.  They’re leaving a city hit the hardest since Russia invaded eight weeks ago.  Four buses managed to carry evacuees to safety yesterday and are headed back.  The county’s leader is demanding more sanctions on Russia, saying they need to be “truly painful.”  The U.S. just issued its latest round, targeting a key bank and a network of Russian nationals.

A new effort is underway to bring back the nation’s mask mandate.  The Justice Department appealed a court ruling after the CDC said travelers still need to cover up to protect from coronavirus.  A judge ended the order Monday for planes, trains, buses and other public transportation.  As of now, the TSA isn’t enforcing the mandate, but some airports still are.  At least eight airlines have made masks optional.  Same with Amtrak, Uber and Lyft.

Police in Minnesota are investigating what the police chief calls an “unimaginable tragedy.”  Five people and a dog were found dead yesterday at a home in Duluth [[ duh-LOOTH ]], including the suspect.  Investigators say it appears they’re all related but no word yet how they died.  Police were doing a welfare check and had been alerted the person they were looking for had access to weapons.  More information will be released today.

Actor Johnny Depp is admitting to abuse in his marriage but blames his ex-wife.  The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star was back on the stand yesterday in his defamation trial.  He’s suing Amber Heard for 50-million dollars after she claimed to be the victim of domestic violence.  But Depp told jurors it was she who hit him during fights, alleging she got angry when he spent time with his kids.  Heard has counter-sued and will also be testifying.

Former President Trump is planning to fight back after he was ordered to pay an ex-aide.  He sued Omarosa Manigault Newman over her book in which she called him a racist.  His presidential campaign said the book violated a non-disclosure agreement.  Trump lost the case and was ordered to pay his former “Apprentice” star more than a million dollars in legal fees.  The two sides are still working out a settlement.  Trump intends to appeal.

Medical bills are sky high as it is, but a new report show many are paying for debt they don’t even owe.  That was the most common complaint last year.  The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says this can affect credit reports and take time to clear.  It sent out more than 750-thousand complaints to about 34-hundred companies.  Federal data shows roughly one in every five people have healthcare-related debt.

Two pilots are hoping to make history this weekend with a stunt some will have to see to believe.  They plan to swap planes at 14-thousand feet in the Arizona skies.  Get this, they’ll actually put the planes in a nosedive close together and then get out in mid-air and switch, before landing.  The two men are cousins and experienced skydivers.  They want to inspire the world and show anything is possible.  The stunt will stream live Sunday on Hulu.
