After 11 years as State College Area School District superintendent, Bob O’Donnell is leaving for another job. O’Donnell said he will stay on at SCASD through the end of June.

A second phase of the war in Ukraine is underway.  The country’s leader says most of Russia’s army is now battling to control a region in the east.  Despite the fighting, residents won’t be able to evacuate the area today as Russia refuses to open humanitarian corridors.

The battle for control over the Donbas region is currently underway, and the outcome may define Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion after his forces suffered costly failures in Kyiv and across central and northern Ukraine. In eastern Ukraine, Russian forces have completed the regrouping of troops to launch an offensive to establish full control over the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, 

The U.S. is ending the practice of anti-satellite missile tests and urging other countries to follow.  The ban comes after Russia destroyed a satellite no longer in use last November, creating space debris.  Vice President Harris says the tests are dangerous and can cause damage.

The search is over for a man who jumped off a cruise ship off the coast of Florida.  He went overboard Saturday on Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras ship, about 60 miles from shore.  The Coast Guard says it suspended the search late yesterday after covering two thousand square miles of ocean.

More information is out a mass shooting over Easter weekend.  Police in Pittsburgh responded to a noise complaint at an Airbnb house party before gunfire erupted.  But 90 minutes later, nearly 100 shots were fired, leaving two teenage boys dead and eight others injured.

One of the drug dealers who sold fentanyl laced pills to rapper Mac Miller is going to prison.  Ryan Reavis was sentenced to ten years and eleven months after pleading guilty last year.  Miller overdosed and died in 2018.  He was 26 years old.   

Millions of people are cranking up the heat as much of the Northeast US braces for a rare April blast of winter weather.

Penn State softball’s doubleheader against Ohio State set for tomorrow in Columbus had been postponed. Both games will be rescheduled for a later date that has yet to be determined.

NBA – The 76ers are now up 2-0 with a 112-97 win over Toronto.

MLB – The Brewers over the Pirates, 6-1.The Phillies lost to the Rockies, 4-1.
