The man accused of opening fire in a New York subway could face life in prison if convicted. Frank James is due in court today on terrorism charges after being arrested yesterday. Police don’t have a motive yet but are looking at videos he posted ranting about race and violence.


It has been 50 days since Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded his neighbor Ukraine, and US officials say the strength of the Russian military appears to be waning against the Ukrainian resistance. World leaders are being warned not stay neutral during the war in Ukraine.  Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says countries that maintain their ties to Russia risk being isolated from the global economy.  She was targeting those that are apparently “sitting on the fence.”

Kentucky is now at least the 15th state with a transgender sports ban.  Lawmakers voted yesterday to override the governor’s veto last week.  He said the bill discriminates against trans children by stopping girls from playing on teams if they were born a boy.

A severe weather outbreak in the central part of the nation is blamed for at least one death.  Officials say strong winds blew a tree onto an Arkansas woman’s mobile home last night.  The storms hit several states and left a trail of damage.

An American cryptocurrency expert is starting his five year sentence behind bars.  Virgil Griffith was given 63 months yesterday and fined 100-thousand dollars.  He pleaded guilty last year to helping North Korea evade sanctions.

The Penn State baseball team takes on Purdue in a three-game Big Ten series this weekend at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The series begins on Thursday at 6 p.m. Friday’s game is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch and Saturday’s series finale is set for 1 p.m. All games will be livestreamed on B1G+.

The Penn State track and field teams will travel to Bucknell this weekend as the Nittany Lions are set to take for a three-day meet at the Bison Outdoor Challenge from Thursday to Saturday.
