The war in Ukraine is taking a new turn as today marks six weeks of fighting. The country’s president just warned Russia is preparing to attack another region. A military report confirms the goal is to liberate the area, saying troops have completed their mission in two other cities.

Russian forces are still pounding the cities of Kyiv and Chernihiv just days after Russia claimed to reduce military activity in the areas as part of a possible peace agreement. Heavy shelling continued in the eastern part of Ukraine today as the Russian military has appeared to shift its focus to the Donbas region, a politically murky area of Ukraine controlled by Russian separatists. Ukrainian lawmakers visiting the US said Russia’s overtures at peace talks earlier this week were a “smokescreen” so their forces could regroup and re-strategize. Ukrainian officials say Russian forces could be regrouping in Belarus, Russia’s neighboring ally directly north of Ukraine.

One person is dead and two others are injured after a U.S. Navy aircraft crashed off the shore of Virginia.

Housing prices are continuing to inflate wildly in the US. While that doesn’t always mean a housing bubble is brewing, unfortunately in this case, some economists fear it does.


More lights are going out in Tennessee after a severe storm left a trail of damage.  The state now has the most power outages, topping 60-thousand.  Alabama is next at nearly 53-thousand.  It was hit by at least one tornado last night, with a chance for more over the next few hours.

Comedian Chris Rock says he isn’t ready to talk about the Oscars slap just yet.  He kicked off his standup tour in Boston last night, admitting he’s still processing everything.  He also confirmed he hasn’t spoken to Will Smith, who walked on stage and hit him Sunday over a joke.

Former President Trump’s son-in-law is set to testify about the Capitol attack today.  Jared Kushner will appear before a House committee investigating what happened last year.  He served as an adviser to Trump and was returning from a trip during the riot.

The White House calls additional COVID funding an urgent necessity.  Communications Director Kate Bedingfield said Congress must allocate billions more dollars for pandemic services and treatments.  She referred to it as planning for the future.
