National Puppy Day was yesterday and the New York Mets are doing their part.
The Mets new service puppy has a new name after online voting by fans. The eleven-week old yellow Labrador Retriever will be named Shea, which was the Mets stadium before Citi Field.
The service-dog-in-training is a partnership between the Amazin’ Mets Foundation and America’s Vets. The non-profit provides specially trained service dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities.
Officials say Shea will attend community events and select home games at Citi Field.
