An Oregon man is pleading guilty to illegally importing and exporting live scorpions.
Darren Drake was accused of sending and receiving hundreds of live scorpions to and from Germany, Michigan and Texas. In one case, he labeled the venomous creatures as chocolates. US Customs discovered that shipment and Drake was arrested.
The suspect didn’t have an import-export license in violation of federal law. He could face a year in prison and a 100-thousand dollar fine.
