President Biden is planning to reveal new sanctions against Russia today. This is in response to the country ordering troops to move into two areas of Ukraine, now recognized as independent states. More American soldiers are in Europe in case of a full-scale invasion.

The nation is on alert for a trucker convoy to protest COVID mandates.  Organizers say it’ll start tomorrow in California and make about ten stops on the way to D.C.  This is similar to a recent protest in Canada and could interfere with President Biden’s State of the Union Speech.

The CDC is expected to update its mask guidelines as soon as this week.  Every state except for Hawaii has either lifted their mandates or given an end date.  The CDC director said last week she wants to give people a break from wearing masks as COVID cases continue to fall.

An Arizona House panel is approving an amended proposal that would make it illegal to record a police officer’s interaction with someone within 15 feet, unless the officer gives permission.  An earlier attempt at passing the legislation sought to ban recording within eight feet.  A House committee will now review the measure.

A beloved season 16 contestant on “America’s Got Talent” has died following a long battle with cancer.  Nightbirde, whose real name was Jane Marczewki, passed away Sunday.  Tributes have been pouring in, with host Terry Crews sending condolences to her family and friends.

The Penn State men’s basketball team came up just short of a double-digit comeback bid on the road against the Maryland Terrapins, ultimately falling 67-61 Monday evening.

It was no coincidence that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson did the kick off pep talk at the beginning of Super Bowl 56. Johnson is also the head of the revamped XFL, and now there’s a partnership taking place between them and the NFL. A new agreement between the two leagues will see the XFL become a “petri dish to experiment with new rules, test new equipment, and develop prospective coaches and officials.” Look for the new NFL-approved XFL to kick off a year from now.

Former Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores thinks race was a factor in his firing.  It’s the first time he’s said that since being let go last month after three seasons.  He’s currently suing the NFL and three teams for alleged racial discrimination in their hiring practices.
