A Canada protest over COVID mandates is stretching across the border again. It’s now affecting automakers. Toyota has stopped production at three plants while Ford has shut down one engine plant. This comes as truck drivers continue to block a busy bridge crossing.

More companies will report their quarterly earnings today.  Twitter, Coca-Cola and Kellogg will reveal their numbers when Wall Street opens.  Expedia, Affirm and Zillow will wait until after the closing bell.  Yesterday, Disney surpassed expectations and shares jumped eight-percent.

A top aide to former President Trump says he won’t comply with a subpoena.  The House committee investigating last year’s Capitol attack wants to hear from Peter Navarro.  He wrote a book about trying to overturn the 2020 election but insists the plan didn’t include the riot.

At least two more states are advancing efforts to ban abortions.  In West Virginia, the full House will take up a bill to stop women from ending their pregnancy after 15 weeks.  In Wisconsin, Republicans are considering a ban once a heartbeat is detected.

More potential jurors are in place in Georgia in the hate crimes trial over the killing of Ahmaud Arbery.  Prosecutors will argue the three men convicted were motivated by race when they chased and shot Arbery two years ago.  Nearly 50 jurors are qualified for more questioning.

Sports

The Penn State women’s basketball team made a strong comeback attempt, fueled by 19 points from Makenna Marisa, but fell short, 81-77, at Purdue on Wednesday night at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Eight Penn State football players – S Jaquan Brisker, CB Tariq Castro-Fields, WR Jahan Dotson, DE Arnold Ebiketie, DE Jesse Luketa, LB Brandon Smith, P Jordan Stout and OL Rasheed Walker – each earned official invitations to the 2022 NFL Combine. The Nittany Lions have had 34 NFL Combine participants in the last five years with eight athletes in 2018, seven in 2019, five in 2020 and six in 2021.
