President Biden’s top two health experts are testifying before a Senate committee today. Dr. Anthony Fauci and the CDC Director will talk about the federal response to COVID variants. It comes as the nation is now averaging more than 700-thousand new cases a day.

Some voting rights groups in Georgia are vowing to skip President Biden’s speech today.  They say he’s coming to the state without a plan for new laws.  The groups were behind a boost in voter turnout during the 2020 election and feel the focus should be on passing legislation.

Hospitals in New York are trying to save 13 people said to be clinging to life after an apartment fire.  They’re among 44 injured when flames tore through two floors of a high-rise on Sunday.  Officials say the smoke traveled through the building, killing eight young children and nine adults.

The Red Cross is declaring the nation’s first ever blood crisis.  A historic shortage is leaving hospitals empty as some blood centers are down to less than a day supply.  The pandemic has led to blood drives being canceled amid the COVID surge, being made worse by winter storms.
