Patton Township supervisors plan to consider a new temporary COVID-19 ordinance requiring masks to be worn in places open to the public, though board members largely questioned whether such a measure could be effectively enforced.

Those seeking a COVID-19 test at the AMI testing site in Centre County should dress warmly, bring a book and use the bathroom beforehand as they could wait in a long line. The Department of Health’s COVID-19 testing site for the general public in State College is available through a partnership with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare. The free, walk-in site is located at the Centre County Recycling & Refuse Authority, 253 Transfer Road, State College, and is open 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

State College police are looking to identify individuals in connection with an alleged assault during the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.

Residents of Pennsylvania are leaving the state at a much higher rate than almost any other state in the country, other than California and Illinois, data shows.

Today marks one year since the Capitol building was attacked on live TV. Several events are planned in D.C. starting with a speech this morning from President Biden. He’s expected to lay out the significance of what happened and talk about the work still needed to unite the country.

Georgia is attempting to loosen gun laws in the state.  Governor Brian Kemp revealed plans yesterday for legislation that would allow people to carry a concealed weapon without a license.  He says law-abiding citizens should have their constitutional rights protected. 

The Boston Marathon bomber apparently received a COVID relief check in prison.  Prosecutors filed a motion yesterday to recoup the 14-hundred-dollars and a judge agreed.

The price of gas is up to three dollars and 30 cents a gallon for the first time in more than two weeks.  That’s what today’s Triple-A station survey shows.  The national average price for regular had been below three-30 a gallon since December 22nd.  Texas and Oklahoma, with statewide averages of two-91, lead eight states that are under three dollars a gallon.

Penn State men’s basketball erased a 10-point second half deficit on the road to defeat Northwestern 74-70 Wednesday night, improving to 2-2 on the year in conference play.

The Penn State women’s basketball team resumes Big Ten play as it travels to No. 10 Maryland on Thursday in the Xfinity Center. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on Big Ten Network.

NBA – The 76ers defeated Orlando, 116-106.

NHL- The Penguins over the Blues, 5-3.

The Penguins traded Hollidaysburg native Sam Lafferty to the Blackhawks.

NFL – ANTONIO BROWN says he didn’t quit on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday . . . coach Bruce Arians fired him on the spot for refusing to play with an injured ankle.  And the Bucs are just trying to cover it up.
