New ‘Smart Bandages’ Tell Doctors When A Wound Has Healed

Scientists are developing a ‘smart bandage’ that will let doctors know how a wound is healing without removing it. The bandage has a sensor that lets doctors check the moisture levels under the bandage by transmitting the data wirelessly to a smartphone app.

Moisture levels are a good indicator of if a wound has healed and taking bandages off makes the healing process take longer. While the team hasn’t said how much the bandage will cost, they have said that’s it’s designed to be ‘low-cost and disposable.’
