Two Things You Should Never Do If You Want To Get Back To Sleep

A sleep specialist has revealed the two things you should never do if you suddenly wake up during the night and want to get back to sleep.

Dr. Michael Breus, a sleep expert and author, says the first thing you should never do if you wake up is go to the bathroom unless you really need to. When you get out of bed to stumble to the bathroom or even decide to sit up, it causes your heart rate to increase, and you’ll have a harder time slowing it down to get back to sleep.

The second thing you should never do: never reach for your phone or even look at your alarm clock for the time. Looking at the time causes the brain to become agitated and stressed, which are the two of the worst feelings you can have if you want to fall back asleep.
