Study: What Makes A Happy Couple, Happy Family?

It turns out there are some basic principles when it comes to being a happy couple and a happy family. University of Rochester researchers found that being mindful and emotionally flexible in challenging situations improves the life of an individual person, and also strengthens and enriches that person’s close relationships.

Psychological flexibility is the set of skills that people use when they’re presented with difficult or challenging thoughts, feelings, emotions, or experiences, and includes things such as: being open to new experiences (both good and bad), not obsessively clinging to thoughts and feelings, and continuing to take steps toward a goal, even in the case of difficult setbacks or experiences, among other things.
