Playing Video Games Benefits Mental Health

Go ahead and play some video games—it could benefit your mental health. University of Oxford researchers found that video gamers who specifically played Plants vs Zomies: Battle for Neighborville and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and experienced genuine enjoyment, saw an improvement in their mental health. Researcher and lead study author, Professor Andrew Przybylski explains, “Our findings show video games aren’t necessarily bad for your health; there are other psychological factors which have a significant effect on a person’s wellbeing. In fact, play can be an activity that relates positively to people’s mental health – and regulating video games could withhold those benefits from players.” (Daily Mail
