New Thing Destroying the Environment: Netflix

You probably thought binge-watching ten hours of Netflix on your couch wasn’t hurting anybody . . . but apparently it’s hurting EVERYBODY.  Because a recent study found that all the streaming we do is contributing to climate change in a pretty big way.

Every time you watch something, it triggers a server where the data is stored.  And streaming requires so much electricity that 30 minutes of Netflix is the equivalent of driving about FOUR MILES in a car.

Video-on-demand services like Netflix and Hulu create more greenhouse gasses than any other type of streaming.  But PORN is a close second, followed by sites like YouTube and Dailymotion.
