Financial Education Key To Reducing Student Loan Stress

Student loans are a huge source of stress for an estimated 25 percent of American adults, and a new study from the University of Missouri finds if borrowers got a more adequate education as to how to manage their student debt, these types of loans would cause less stress. Looking at more than 2,600 responses from another study, researchers found women were less likely to be late on student loan payments, but were more likely to feel worried about their student loans, and that men were less anxious about their debt, but more likely to submit payments late. Study leader Lu Fan believes borrowers are not receiving the information they need to make the best financial decisions, and that policymakers and loan providers should do more to educate borrowers.
