Parents Prefer Younger Children, Grandparents Prefer Oldest

If you think your parents don’t have a favorite child a new study is about to shatter your blissful ignorance. U.K.-based website Mumsnet surveyed parents and grandparents and found that among parents who confessed to having a favorite kid, 40 percent said it was their last born. Grandparents, on the other hand, were more likely to say the oldest grandchild was their favorite, since he or she was the first to remind them of when their own children were small. More than half of parents said their youngest child makes them laugh the most, which might be why they tend to be the favorite. But still, 60 percent of moms, dads and grandparents said they felt awful for choosing a favorite child. (The Sun
