Women With Muscular Bodies Now Considered More Attractive Than Women With Only Slim Figures

Society’s beauty standards cause a lot of issues, and they’ve changed once again. University of Missouri-Kansas City researchers measured beauty standards by showing 78 female participants photos of the Miss USA beauty pageant from 1999 to 2013. Participants were asked to rate the winners according to how muscular, thin and attractive they were. They determined more of the recent winners no longer exemplified the body ideal of thinness, and they’ve become more muscular over the past 15 years. Study leader Frances Bozsik explains, “There is a shift in the thin ideal female figure to one that now includes the appearance of physical fitness via muscularity.” (Daily Mail)¬†
