Study: Kids Get Over Bullying By Age 16

Bullying is no fun for kids to go through, but new data suggests they mostly get over it by age 16. University College London looked at 11,108 twins born in England and Wales between 1994 and 1996. Study participants reported on their experience of bullying at ages 11 and 14; their mental health was evaluated at ages 11 and 16. Results show while children who are bulled at 11 are more likely to experience depression, anxiety, inattention and hyperactivity, these conditions do not persist five years later. However, paranoid thoughts often continue for reasons that are unclear. Still, researchers not involved with this study say much more research is needed on this topic to come to a clear conclusion.
