GREGG ALLMAN’s album “Southern Blood” comes out today. It’s the one he was working on when he died back in May.
For the art, Gregg had asked an artist named Vincent Castigliato to paint his portrait . . . in his own blood. Vincent says Gregg asked him to do it back in 2015, and he had vials of his blood stored in his refrigerator for more than a year.
He says, quote, “When Gregg shipped me the vials of his blood, no one could’ve foreseen what was to come . . . painting his portrait in his and his children’s blood, memorializing him posthumously, was one of the most emotively intense experiences.”
