New Study: Marriage Prevents Death From Heart Disease

Turns out having a nagging husband or wife could save your life, literally. Aston University researchers analyzed heart patients hospitalized in England between 2000 and 2013. Ultimately, they found married participants were 14 percent more likely to survive a heart attack compared to single participants. Among those with high cholesterol, those who were married were 16 percent more likely to be alive at the end of the trial’s duration. Lead study author, Dr. Paul Carter, explains, “Marriage, and having a spouse at home, is likely to offer emotional and physical support on a number of levels ranging from encouraging patients to live healthier lifestyles, helping them to cope with the condition and helping them to comply to their medical treatments.” (Daily Mail
