Study: Drinking Some Alcohol May Be Healthier Than Drinking None

Raise your glass to drinking, it’s healthy for you, says science. Of course, you’ll have to drink in moderation. Published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, a brand new study shows men and women who are light to moderate drinkers may get a slew of health benefits that heavy drinkers and those who abstain from alcohol do not get. Specifically those in the study who reported drinking fewer than three drinks a week (light drinkers), and moderate drinking (up to 14 drinks a week for men, and seven for women) were 20 percent less likely to die from heart disease. The protective effect was strongest in those ages 60 and up. (Newser
