There’s one in every crowd these days, or maybe more than one. People who use their smart phones while on the move, no matter how young they are, walk like people in their 80s. That’s the conclusion of a new British study. The researchers found that people who use their phones while walking move more slowly than normal. They take shorter steps and have difficulty walking in a straight line. Reading a text message is even more distracting than talking on the phone. The researchers stress that this behavior is not good long-term for the users’ necks and backs.
