Study: To Get Kids To Eat Vegetables, Keep Offering Them

If your little one refuses to eat veggies, you should just keep offering them. Loughborough University researchers reviewed previous studies and found the most successful method of getting kids to eat their greens is to make them a part of youngsters’ daily meals, and to continue offering them even if the child doesn’t want to eat them at first. Study author, Dr. Emma Haycraft says perseverance is key, adding, “It might feel as if they’ll never accept vegetables, but tastes are always changing. Gentle encouragement to try a disliked food is important for helping children to learn to like new tastes.” The data also showed that offering non-food rewards, like stickers, can also get kids to eat their vegetables.
