Privileged Teenagers At Greater Risk For Developing An Addiction

Those at highest risk of developing addiction might not fit the profile you’d expect. Columbia University researchers found that up to 40 percent of young men and 24 percent of young women who attended schools in privileged areas are battling addiction by the age of 26. It’s thought the high-pressure environments of these types of schools are to blame. Additionally, coming from a well-off family may increase a student’s income and therefore their access to fake IDs. Researchers warn the trend is unlikely to wane, as many universities and colleges remain extremely competitive. (Daily Mail
