Pepsi’s Excuses for the Kendall Jenner Ad

Pepsi pulled that ad where Kendall Jenner eases tensions at a protest by giving a cop a Pepsi. The company says, quote, “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize.” Pepsi’s Spin Doctors and PR Flacks are desperatly trying to come up with excuses for their tone-deaf ad. Here’s what they’ve come up with so far:

  • It featured a Kardashian. How seriously were we supposed to take it?

  • Honestly, we were just trying to troll Lena Dunham into tweeting something stupid

  • Obama wiretapped us or something

  • That was a Coke ad! Alternative fact!

  • People would have loved it if they thought that Don Draper came up with it

  • Trying to project a global image of obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay

  • Didn’t realize people were touchy about stuff these days

  • Uh, Kendall Jenner needed the money?

  • Hey, it’s not like we set Michael Jackson’s hair on fire again

  • Nobody realized ads could be so complicated!
