We’re about a week from Thanksgiving, and less than a month-and-a-half from Christmas. So here’s something if you’re planning to fly in the next month or so. It’s the four most common reasons airlines lose your luggage . . .
1. When you check your luggage, they print out the wrong airport code. So the routing label on your bag has the wrong destination. The best way to prevent it is to ask to see the airport code before they toss it on the conveyor belt.
2. The routing label falls off or gets damaged. Unfortunately there’s not much you can do about that one other than pray it DOESN’T happen.
3. Your bag gets loaded onto the wrong plane. Again, there’s not really anything you can do. It’s just human error.
4. You forget to pick your bags up after you land. Which happens way more than
you’d think. People end up exhausted from their flight, and just forget to grab their bags before they leave the airport. (Budget Travel)
