Adding Music To Pain Meds May Reduce Pain

To increase pain relief when taking pain killers you may want to listen to some music. Researchers from Ewha Womans University in South Korea reviewed 97 studies that looked at a total of 9,147 participants. They found that overall, participants who listened to music in their trial rated their pain intensity about one point lower on a zero to ten scale after music sessions compared to those who did not listen to any music. Study author Jin Hyung Lee explains that music stimulates additional senses other than pain receptors, which attracts patients’ attention, and relieves stress and anxiety with its soothing quality.
