Older Adults Benefit From Laughter During Exercise Programs

Laughter is said to be the best medicine, and new findings show incorporating intentional laughter into exercise programs increases their health benefit for older adults. Simulated laughter techniques improved older adults’ performance, and significantly improved their enjoyment of a strength, balance and flexibility workout. This made it more likely they would participate in physical activity and classes more often. Researchers from Georgia State University say laughter has physical benefits, and in many cases has an effect on the muscles used during exercise programs designed for older adults. (UPI)¬†
