It’s back-to-school time, so here are four tips to keep any parents out there from going crazy . . .
1. Be on time. Research shows being late or absent a lot from school can have a big impact on your kid’s performance down the road. So get your kids to school every day, on time, especially in the first month.
2. Email the teacher. Call, text, or email your child’s teacher at the start of the school year. It puts your kid on their radar, AND lets them know you’re approachable and available.
3. Plan the night before. It’s easy for school mornings to get crazy. So to minimize the chaos, have a place for each kid to put their things each night so it’s ready to go in the morning.
4. Don’t hover with homework. When it comes to homework, the best thing you can do is be positive, and be there for support when your kids need it. You don’t have to work through every problem unless a teacher specifically asks you to. (WUNC.org / Deseret News)
