Study: People Live Longer If Their Parents Live Past 70

If your parents live past age 70 there’s a good chance you’ll have an increase in longevity, says science. The new study was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and researchers looked at 186,000 people in middle age and followed them for up to eight years. They found participants with parents who lived to age 70 or higher had fewer events related to heart disease, lowered ¬†risk of death from heart disease, and lowered risk for cancer. Scientists are studying a variety of factors, from genetics to mindset, that determine how long a person lives. This latest finding, while not definitive, adds support for some type of genetic effect. (Time)¬†
