Science Proves Which Color Wine Gives You The Worst Hangover

Drinking alcohol always comes with the possibility of a hangover, but now science has determined which color wine will leave you feeling the worst the next day. Professor Steve Allsop from the National Drug Research Institute in Perth, Australia explains that strength of your hangover is determined by how many things called congeners you drink. Congeners determine the color and flavor of alcoholic beverages, and the darker the drink, the more there are. Technically, congeners are a “toxic byproduct of the fermenting process” that remain in your body the day after drinking and make you feel gross. Therefore, red wine will make you feel worse than white wine will. Other factors that determine if you’ll get a hangover or not: how quickly you drank, and how good your body is at metabolizing alcohol. (Delish
