It feels, well, a whole lot like 30 did! It’s 2:15 AM as I write this on July 22, so it’s officially my birthday. I’m relaxing while listening to the Rolling Stones’ “Exile On Mainstreet” Outtakes (don’t tell Mick and Keith.) The day is off to a good start as far as I’m concerned.
I’m pretty sure that after 30, most birthdays just start to feel the same. For as freaked out as I was about turning 30, it honestly wasn’t too terrible. I looked younger and felt better at 30 than I did at 20, so that’s got to count for something, right?
I don’t have anything extravagant planned. I’ll head back to Duryea at some point this weekend to have a small get together with my family and closest of friends. My girlfriend had to head back to Nashville early this week, so we celebrated on Tuesday. Hey, any time spent with her is time well spent as far as I’m concerned.
Anyway, here’s to another year and another trip around the sun.
I’ll see you for my mid-life crisis at 40. Until then…
