#1 Way Americans Waste Money

We all need to spend our hard-earned money on basic necessities, but it turns out there’s one thing we waste the most cash on: food. A new study from Hloom shows that Americans’ excess spending on food doesn’t only come from eating out at restaurants, but from “convenience packaging” purchases, and throwing out or wasting food we purchase from the grocery store. Study scientists note, “Making some small changes can add up to big savings over time. One fewer restaurant meal per week can save over $600 a year.” Other things Americans admitted to wasting money on: alcohol or drinking, credit card interest, clothes, electricity, and cigarettes.
