Americans Are Switching From Soda To Bottled Water

Consumers have been moving away from sugar-filled beverages and toward bottled water as they look for healthier drinks, steering clear of sugary beverages that have been linked to rampant obesity and chronic illnesses in the US. Because of the growing bottled water demand, companies such as Pepsico and Coca-Cola have broadened their offerings, producing more bottled water and flavored waters, sports drinks, juices and premium milk. Marion Nestle, a New York University nutrition science professor and author of Soda Politics, said, “All of them are an improvement over Coke and Pepsi because they have much less sugar. People should not be drinking sugar, that’s a bad idea.” (Quartz)
