Gov’t. Study: Climate Change Will Lead To More Death, Disease In U.S.

A government study released yesterday (April 4th) said that climate change will lead to more death and disease in the U.S., with extreme heat alone potentially killing 11,000 more Americans by the summer of 2030, and as many as 27,000 more by 2100. Other health effects named in the administration report, which involved over 100 government scientists at eight federal agencies, include an increase in allergies and asthma from longer pollen seasons, increased breathing troubles due to more wildfires and higher ozone levels, and an increase in insect-borne illnesses like West Nile virus and Lyme disease, which are already spreading.
