Brave, generous volunteer “plungers” raised funds for the YMCA and “plunged” into the chilly waters at Black Moshannon State Park on December 2, 2017. Tony Ricciardi from 93.7 The Bus and Thomas Frank Carr of Big Froggy 101 and ESPN Radio 1450 represented Forever Media State College in this year’s plunge.
The Plungers and Super Plungers (for those that raised $300 or more) raised over $40,000 in support of two YMCA programs. One is the Open Doors Program, which provides financial assistance to ensure no one is turned away from the YMCA due to inability to pay. Over 2,400 people in Centre County have benefited from this program. Also, the Backpack Weekend Food Program benefited, which provides a backpack of food for students to eat on weekends when they are not receiving a school lunch. This program serves over 1000 students in seven school districts.
